@Notes: Missions, Part III– Now, missions can evoke a variety of responses. Some think: I could never do that! Others imagine: Maybe I could go? Still more: I will go! Even some ask: How can I help?

Perhaps, if you know a little more about missions, you may start thinking of faithful missionaries throughout history: Adoniram Judson, Hudson Taylor, Amy Carmichael, Mary Slessor, many more.

These are all natural and understandable responses, but they all reveal one common theme:

When we talk about missions (and evangelism), we often think in individual terms.

Yet, missions is first about the local church.

@ Event: We are planning the fall kick-off for our Saturday Men's Breakfast and Bible study this coming Saturday, September 5th from 7:30–10:30. We will have breakfast, a short devotional, then prepare to clean-up a few rooms in the church. Please bring work gloves and come ready to help.

@Sermon: The Rest of the Story, Part III- "There are all different types of strategies for how one brings the gospel abroad. But, so many abandon the biblical and historical simplicity of missions.

Missions is really simple: Missionaries are disciples sent by the local church. They proclaim Jesus, the gospel—repent and believe. They baptize and make disciples. They establish local churches. It's very clear in the New Testament and we're going to discover that today in Matthew chapter 28.

But there's that question we keep asking. How did we get here? How did we get to be so confused about evangelism and missions? That takes us to a little town in Switzerland, 1974 and the meeting of the Congress for World Evangelization. They met to resolve the relationship between evangelism and social action..."
