@Pastor Notes: Missions, Part II– Today, we will talk about the foundation of everything in Missions. Mission exists for Worship!
Now, that might not sound altogether surprising. For, everything exists for worship God’s glory (1 Cor 10:31; Col 3:17). But, over the years, many missions programs have drifted away from this simple premise. For, many act like disoriented tour guides—they have gotten themselves lost trying to save the lost.
Simply, ask: How do you measure mission success?
Many measure success through…
- How many missionaries the church supports
- How many baptisms the missionaries have performed
- How much money the church gives to missions
- How many short-term missions trips the church has taken
- How charismatic (or interesting) the church’s missionaries are
- How many members are on the missionary committee
- And many other ways…
But, the only correct answer for mission success is how well the church’s mission program seeks to glorifying God. Is our primary focus on worshipping God?

@ Shepherd's Training Institute: This is the last day to register for STI. So don’t miss it—sign-up today! Better yet, we have been blown away by the response. Right now, we have +18 men from three different churches, plus our own church. This was a turn out, beyond our expectations.
But, men want the challenge. So, they are stepping up to the standard and we are grateful. Simply, I’m humbled by the many who have reached out and explained their circumstances—life can get hectic and busy—but they are willing to make the sacrifice.
A sacrifice for their faith, their wives, their families, and their church family. This will be a blessed time as we raise up the next generation at Grace Chapel to know and practice God’s word (Ezra 7:10).

Everyone registered feels unequipped and inadequate, but they are trusting the Lord. Please pray for these men and our time together.

@ Worship Music App: Doctrinally sound music is critical for worship. A well prepared choir and congregation is critical for worship. We have developed an app to prepare you for Worship each Sunday. Here you can find all the worship songs planned for the entire year, along with relevant Scriptures. No commercials, no hassle. You can use this for personal and family devotion. Better yet, we will all be that much better equipped to sing together!

@Sermon: The Rest of the Story, Part II- "Today I want to ask you another question about missions. How do we do missions? This is a practical question. We're not talking so much about motivation, but methodology.
Again, if we're honest, when you think about doing missions, what do you start to think about? You start to think about yourself again, don't you? Well, I can't or I can do missions. I can or can't go. I can or can't support.
Or, again, you think about other people that do missions like Adoniram Judson, Hudson Taylor, Elizabeth Elliott, or Billy Graham. How do we do missions? The answer is typically very personal, very individualistic.
But the reality is as we talk about how we should do missions or the methodology, it has nothing to do with you. Instead, missions—real Biblical-driven, Christ-empowered labor amongst the nations—has everything to do with the authority of the local church established by Jesus.
The question is how did we get here? How did we get to such a profound shift from Jesus Christ empowering the local church to the very individualist and prideful view of missions as a personal endeavor?
